Storm Mangkhut, the sixth to hit Vietnam this year, has killed three people and left three others missing after bringing torrential rain to northern and northern central provinces.
Heavy rain has caused floods in some main streets in the northern port city of Hai Phong , where a 16-year old boy was swept away by high waves up to 7-8m high off the coast of Do Son district. His body was then found in nearby area.
A 41-year-old woman in Thai Nguyen province was killed by broken electricity lines resulting from fallen trees. The storm unroofed seven houses and five classrooms in the province, while causing 20-kilometre landslide.

Families with collapsed houses have been supported with 9 million VND each to reconstruct their houses.
Meanwhile, more than 100 hectares of farm in Lac Thuy district, Hoa Binh province was inundated. The storm also caused landslide in a large area.
At the same time, the tropical storm made traffic in Hai Duong province blocked and submerged over 800-hectare paddy fields.
In Nam Dinh province, 200 metres of sea embankment in Giao Thuy district were totally broken. Many rice fields and aquatic farms were inundated, with losses estimated at 64 billion VND.
