A strong tropical storm named Rammasun is moving westward, around 25 km per hour, and will intensify its strength in the next hours, according to the Central Hydro -meteorological Forecasting Centre.

At 1:00 pm on July 14, the storm was centred at 13.0 degrees north latitude and 129.2 degrees east longitude, about 860 km east-southeast of Luzon Island of the Philippines , packing maximum winds of between 103 and 117 km per hour.

Over the next day, Rammasun may stay at 13.3 degrees north latitude and 123.8 degrees east longitude in the eastern part of central Philippines , with the strongest winds near the eye of the storm expected to reach 149 km per hour.

In the next 24 -48 hours, the storm is forecast to change its path to move west-northwest at a speed of 20km per hour. By 1:00 pm on July 16, its centre will be at 15.2 degrees north latitude and 119.6 degrees east longitude, about 810 km east-southeast of Vietnam ’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.

Due to the influence of the storm, wind power in the eastern part of the East Sea, near the centre of the storm, is predicted to become stronger, resulting in rough seas.-VNA
