A ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the liberation of the Truong Sa archipelago was held in Song Tu Tay commune, in Truong Sa island district, on April 27.

The ceremony was jointly held by the People’s Committee of the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa and the Navy.

The commemoration recalled how the Navy deployed its fleet to fight against troops of the US-backed Saigon regime stationed on the islands of Truong Sa archipelago, including Song Tu Tay, Son Ca, Nam Yet and Sinh Ton, resulting in the complete liberation of the Truong Sa archipelago on April 29, 1975.

The State has conferred many awards and distinctions on the local people and the armed forces of Truong Sa district for their achievements during the course of the defence, construction, and development of their locality.

Today, both the military and the locals of Truong Sa district are enthusiastically taking part in search and rescue activities at sea, making the locality a safe destination for fishermen and their boats when plying the country’s sovereign sea waters./.
