Unicorp, the license holder of Miss Universe Organisation in Vietnam , said the representation of May, who was chosen for meeting the pageant’s criteria as well as her enthusiastic involvement in social activities, was permitted by the Performing Arts Department.
The 25-year-old beauty was born to Khmer-Vietnamese parents. She grew up in the Mekong delta province of An Giang , where a large proportion of Khmer population live. She practices austere Buddhism and follows a strict vegetarian diet since she was 13.
May is 1.73m tall. She is also the runner-up in Miss Vietnam Photogenic 2006 pageant. May was appointed twice to represent Vietnam in Miss Earth pageant but missed both chances because of unexpected incidents.
The 61 st Miss Universe will take place from October 20 to November 9.-VNA
