The Republic of Korea (RoK) and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Feb. 8 planned to meet on Feb. 9 for another round of military talks after their preliminary talks ended without much progress.
According to Xinhua, the nine-hour meeting in the truce village of Panmunjom, which aimed to decide on the venue, date and agenda of the high-level military talks between the two Koreas, bogged down as Seoul officials insisted the high-level talks must discuss the DPRK’s alleged sinking of RoK warship Cheonan and the shelling of Yeonpyeong island.
Following Pyongyang proposal, the two sides planned to conduct colonel-level talks in the truce village of Panmunjom on Feb. 9.
The Feb. 8 meeting is the first inter-Korean talks after the RoK’s artillery shelling in Yeonpyeong island on November, 23, 2010./.
