– The Investigation Police Agency under the Ministry of Public Security has prosecuted and put in temporary detention two former leaders of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., Ltd (BSR) on the charge of “abusing position and power to appropriate assets”.

The arrestees are Nguyen Hoai Giang, former Chairman of the Member Council, and Pham Xuan Quang, former chief accountant, of the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., Ltd.

The Investigation Police Agency said on May 10 that it is investigating the case of “abusing position and power to appropriate assets” at the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and the Ocean Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OceanBank) pursuant to prosecution decision No.55/C46-P11 dated September 13, 2017.

The case is directly monitored by the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption.

Basing on the investigation outcomes, the Investigation Police Agency issued decisions on the prosecution and arrest of Nguyen Hoai Giang and Pham Xuan Quang for “abusing position and power to appropriate assets” in accordance with Article 355 of the 2015 Penal Code.

On April 27, Vu Manh Tung, former Deputy Director General of the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co., Ltd., was also prosecuted and taken into temporary detention for the same charge.

Police are expanding the probe to shed light on acts of these arrestees and relevant persons and recover State assets.-VNA
