Hanoi (VNA) – Two new imported cases of COVID-19 were detected in the past 24 hours to 18:00 on December 17, raising the national total to 1,407, according to the National Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the two new patients, one returned from Myanmar on December 12, and the other arrived from Dubai on December 8. They tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 while in quarantine.

The same day, 11 patients were given the all clear, bringing the total recoveries to 1,263. The fatalities remain at 35.

Among patients still under treatment, eight have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, eight twice and three thrice.

A total of 18,084 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-affected areas are being quarantined nationwide, with 219 at hospitals, 15,068 at designated facilities and 2,797 at home or accommodations./.
