Thailand’s Meteorological Department has assured that tropical typhoon ‘Hagupit’ will not impact on the country.

Thailand’s upper region will continue to experience colder weather until December 14 as a high pressure system from China is extending beyond the East Sea to the north of Thailand. The temperature is expected to drop 3-5 degrees Celsius.

More rain has been forecast in the southern provinces as the northeasterly wind is gaining strength over the Gulf of Thailand and down toward Nakhon Sri Thammarat and below, where waves could reach as high as 2-3 metres.

According to the department, typhoon Hagupit will weaken when it reaches Vietnam’s southern coast on the night of December 11 and will not cause climate changes in Thailand .

Earlier, Hagupit swept across the Philippines on December 6 evening, claiming at least 27 lives.-VNA
