Vietnam’s national under-23 football team had to say goodbye to the ongoing 27th Southeast Asia Games (SEA Games 27) in Myanmar, after losing to Malaysia 2-1 in the qualification round.
Vietnamese footballers began the match with strong attacks, but failed to score goals despite their endless efforts.
In the 81st minute, Malaysia got the first goal, and scored another just 9 minutes later.
Vietnam only scored in the 93rd minute.
With this loss, Vietnam let its rival Malaysia enter the semi-finals, along with Singapore.
The two semi-finals are between Malaysia and Indonesia and Thailand and Singapore.
After the match, coach Hoang Van Phuc, on behalf of the team, made an apology to Vietnamese football fans for the loss.
