Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam U23 team will convene on February 3 to prepare for the friendly match with Malaysia on February 7.

According to deputy chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan, the VFF will call on 25 players who performed outstandingly during the ongoing national premier league, the recent International U21 Football Tournament and international U22 friendly tournament in China.

“The VFF will create the best conditions for the team to train and play this year,” said Tuan.

The Malaysian U23 team lost to Vietnam 1-2 at the qualifying round of the AFC U-23 Championship in 2014 and at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore in 2015, Vietnam beat Malaysia 5-1.

The Malaysian team will be present in HCM City on February 4 for the friendly match, which will be a warm up for Vietnam to compete in the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship’s qualifying round in July and the 29th SEA Games in Malaysia in August.-VNA
