Australian marathon runner, Patrick Farmer, and his Vietnamese running partner, Mai Nguyen Dinh Huy, arrived in the central city of Da Nang on December 24 on the 16 th day of their “Pole to Pole Vietnam” ultra marathon.
As part of activities to celebrate the 40 th anniversary of Vietnam–Australia diplomatic ties, the event was launched to raise money for Australian Red Cross to provide clean water for underprivileged people in Vietnam .
Farmer and Huy left northern Quang Ninh province on December 9 to embark on a 40-day run through 30 cities and provinces. They are expected to cross the finish line in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on January 18, 2013 .
Global media describes Farmer as an ultra marathon man. He completed an epic 21,000km run from the North Pole to the South Pole to raise funds for clean water projects across the world.-VNA
