to promote humanitarian activities in 14 needy countries.
Of the targeted countries, Ethiopia will receive the most, with nearly 17 million USD, followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo with approximately 16 million USD, Afghanistan with 11 million USD and Kenya , 10 million USD.
The Office for Coordinating Humanitarian Affairs, the UN agency managing the fund, said that funding for Haiti would be reconsidered as it had been decided before the recent tragic earthquake.
The CERF was established in March 2006 to support relief activities in humanitarian emergencies. The fund is contributed to by member countries, non-governmental organisations, national administrations and individual donors./.
