Chinese readers and researchers have selected President Ho Chi Minh as one of the 60 most influential foreign figures who have played an important role in China’s 60 years of development.

The Vietnamese leader was voted for in a recent online poll run by the Global Times, a media outlet owned by the People’s Daily, the Communist Party of China’s mouthpiece. The poll was held to mark the 60th National Day of China.

Besides President Ho Chi Minh, the top 60 also included other world-renowned figures such as Isaac Newton, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, V.I. Lenin, Elbert Einstein, Joseph Stalin and Bill Gates. Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of the UK, is the only woman to be included in the list.

The 60 are not ranked but arranged according to their birthdays./.
