Uncle’s Ho birthday celebrated in DPRK

A series of cultural activities, including a photo exhibition and screening film on President Ho Chi Minh were held in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s capital city of Pyongyang on May 25 and 26 to celebrate the president’s 120 th birthday (May 19).

The event, jointly organised by the DPRK’s Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, the DPRK-Vietnam Friendship Association and Vietnamese Embassy, spotlighted Uncle Ho’s life and career as well as the relationship between the two countries.


Addressing at the opening ceremony, Jon Yong Jin, Chairman of the DPRK-Vietnam Friendship Association, underlined the significance of the event and praised Uncle Ho’s life and revolutionary cause, his moral examples as well as his great devotion for the national liberation and social progress in Vietnam and the world.

Uncle Ho has gained great respect from Vietnamese people and progressive people all over the world, he said, stressing that President Ho Chi Minh and his DPRK’s counterpart Kim II Sung have laid foundation for the friendship, solidarity and cooperative relations between the parties, states and peoples of Vietnam and DPRK.

On the occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador to DPRK Le Van Cu affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and traditional cooperation with DPRK, saying that the Southeast Asian country will spare no efforts to deepen bilateral relations in numerous areas./.
