UNICEF will provide over 4.59 million USD to extend the “Children’s Friends” project in the Mekong delta province of An Giang from 2012 to 2016.

The expansion of the project is based on the success of the project from 2008 to 2011, which helped disadvantaged children to gain access to public services of health care, nutrition, hygiene and education.

Of the total capital for the project in the new period, nearly 4 million USD will be non-refundable official development assistance (ODA).

In the new phase, the project will focus on disadvantaged children, especially those in poor households, street children, the disabled and those facing high risks of trafficking, as well as children affected by HIV/AIDS and natural disaster.-VNA
