The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is joining hands with government agencies and the private sector in giving education to underprivileged children in Chiang Mai province, northern Thailand.

UNICEF has held a conference in Chiang Mai to brainstorm ideas on how everyone can be involved in the process of providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children, especially migrants, who are normally taken for granted when it comes to social welfare.

Taking part in the meeting were representatives from UNICEF, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce, local educational institutions, and other related agencies.

Affordability and parents’ ideas that education is not important to their kids are attributed to factors that cause migrant children to skip school.-VNA
