The Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama) and the Babcock & Wilcox Beijing Company signed a 181.5 million USD contract to supply equipment for the Vung Ang I Power Plant in Hanoi on June 18.

Under the contract, the company will provide a steam furnace system for the project and will be responsible for supervising the installation and test running the system.

The plant is expected to generate 8 billion kWh of electricity per year.

Located in Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh district in central Ha Tinh province and invested by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), Vung Ang I is currently the largest thermoelectric power plant in Vietnam . It comprises of two turbines with a combined capacity of 1,200 MW.

Once operational, this modern power plant is expected to contribute 8 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid annually.

Babcock & Wilcox Beijing, a member of US-based B&W Group, whose factory is in China , boasts 140-year experience of researching, designing and manufacturing steam furnaces.

It has provided steam furnaces for power plants in many other countries, including Indonesia , India and the US./.
