Khanh Hoa (VNA) – Vietnamese search and rescue vessel SAR27-01 arrived at Nha Trang port, the central province of Khanh Hoa, on January 28, bringing a US cruise tourist ashore for medical treatment.

Nguyen Xuan Binh, Director of the Coordination Centre for Maritime Search and Rescue, Zone 4, said at 7am the same day, the centre was informed that Haddock Richard Ray suffered acute ileus on the Bahamas-flagged Seabourn Ovation cruiser, which was about 78 nautical miles to the north of Nha Trang waters.

He showed symptoms of swollen bowel, being unable to move and continuous vomiting.

The centre contacted the vessel to provide consultation.

As his illness could lead to death, the centre deployed SAR27-01 to the spot and brought him to a hospital in Nha Trang.-VNA
