Hanoi (VNA) – US President Donald Trump and leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (RoK) Kim Jong-un on February 28 attended an expanded meeting with members of the two delegations in Hanoi following their 45-minute one-on-one meeting earlier the same day.

According to the US’s White House, the leaders are scheduled to have lunch together at 11:55pm, before holding a joint statement signing ceremony which is scheduled to take place at 2:05pm.

A news conference on the summit’s results will be held on 3:30pm the same day.

After their meeting and dinner on February 27 evening at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel, both the US President and the DRPK leader voiced their optimism about realising targets towards peace and complete denuclearisation in the Korean Peninsula.

 US President Trump tweeted that he had “great meetings” and “very good dialogue” with leader Kim.

DPRK leader Kim also said that he had “a good dialogue” with President Trump on February 27 and vowed to do his utmost to make the summit fruitful. -VNA
