The US Technology Group AECOM will help Ho Chi Minh City in apply of environmentally-friendly technology to construction.
On Oct. 28, AECOM and HCM City ’s Science, Technology and Environment Department signed a memorandum of understanding on exchanging information on advanced technology in sustainable design and green technologies.
Under the cooperation programme, AECOM will support the city to develop the LOTUS standard, which is used to guide construction units to become more friendly with the environment and have knowledge of protection of natural resources.
According to Le Hoai Quoc, Deputy Director of the city’s Science, Technology and Environment Department , firstly, the two sides will cooperate to build the department’s office building with a focus on space and energy saving.
Vincent Tong, AECOM Southeast Asian CEO, said that investment in green technology and applying environmentally friendly technologies to projects were very important to mitigate the consequences of the urbanisation.
In the near future, the two sides plan to boost exchange of information on sustainable development and green technologies, as well as conduct new projects to develop green technology in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general./.
