The US hospital ship, USNS Mercy, docked at the Quy Nhon port in the central coastal province of Binh Dinh on May 31 for humanitarian activities in the province.
Officers and medical workers on board were received by leaders of Binh Dinh province on the same day.
Under a cooperation programme between Vietnam and the United States, during their stay from May 31-June 12, staff and medical workers on the hospital ship, Vietnamese medical workers and relevant provincial agencies will jointly provide free-of-charge health checks-up and treatment for local people.
They are scheduled to take part in repairing and providing equipment for medical facilities and humanitarian centres in Quy Nhon city and Tuy Phuoc districts.
They will also share experiences in modern healthcare and participate in sport and cultural exchange activities./.
