Mercer College, a division of the US-based Mercer company specialising in human resource (HR) training and development, eyes to expand its operations in Vietnam.

The Chief of Mercer College’s ASEAN Department, Dan Mitchell, told the Vietnam News Agency that he viewed Vietnam as “one of the best potential markets for further growth for the firm”.

In his view, as the Vietnamese market “becomes more and more mature and complex, competitive pressures will call for the kinds of services Mercer provides, including workshops based on its HR-focused intellectual capital.”

The rapid growth of Vietnam’s economy has already lead to a rise in the demand for experienced senior professionals by companies, the Mercer official said, urging companies to see learning and development as both a performance improvement tool and an incentive to keep people rather than lose them to competitors.

During his visit from June 19-23, Dan Mitchell gave a presentation on how HR managers can better position themselves as business partners within their respective organisations.

On this occasion, Mercer announced its partnership with TalentNet to provide HR training courses in Vietnam./.
