Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his US counterpart Donald Trump are scheduled to meet sometime in the near future to discuss investment in Indonesia’s new capital city in East Kalimantan.

According to Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan, the US government’s interest to get involved in the development of the new capital was conveyed by its senior advisor and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, at a meeting in Washington, D.C last October.

Kushner said Indonesia’s plan to move the capital city is very visionary and persuaded President Trump to have detailed discussions on investment in East Kalimantan, Pandjaitan said.

The meeting between Jokowi and Trump will also provide a chance for the two leaders to discuss Indonesia's plan to create its own Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), the minister added. /.
