Hanoi (VNA) – US President Donald Trump praised Malaysia’s efforts in fighting terrorism while receiving Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak at the White House on September 12.

President Trump underlined Razak’s role in not allowing ISIS to exist in the country, adding that the Malaysian Prime Minister has always been strong in combating terrorism.

For his part, Prime Minister Razak said that Malaysia remained committed to fighting ISIS, Al Qaeda and other extremist groups like Abu Sayyaf.

He affirmed that the US is a significant partner of the Southeast Asian country.

Large trade pacts between the two countries were discussed, including a Boeing deal worth 20 billion USD, with Malaysia agreeing to purchase 25 Boeing 737 jets, eight Dreamliners and 25 more Boeing 737s in the future.

PM Razak and the Malaysian delegation visited the US from September 11-13 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.-VNA
