An US delegation comprising 67 military members will provide humanitarian medical check-up and treatment to residents in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from May 13-17.

As part of the Operation Pacific Angel 2010, the medical team will provide general health check-up, including dentistry, optometry and paediatrics for residents of Phong Dien and Co Do district. The officers will also repair two medical clinics in Phong Dien and Thoi Lai districts, Lieutenant-Colonel Kara Gormont, chief coordinator of the programme said.

At the end of their mission, the delegation will give two clinics medical equipment.

According to Senior Lieutenant Phan Thanh Ha from the Can Tho municipal Military Command, Vietnam has tried to create favourable conditions for US military members to fulfill their humanitarian work.
This is the second time the programme has come to Vietnam. The first time was in September last year, with the US military team providing service to the central province of Quang Tri./.
