Social Assistance Programme for Vietnam (SAP-VN), a US non-government humanitarian organisation, has decided to provide financial supports for orthopedic surgeries for more than 100 disabled children in Ninh Binh province this year.
Tam Diep Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre is the Vietnamese partner of this programme, which aims to help handicapped chidlren mingle in the society.
Started in early April this year, the centre has examined and provided treatment to 130 children, of whom 62 will receive free surgery and the remaining get involved in rehab training courses.
This is the third consecutive year that the SAP-VN’s support programme reached out to disabled children in Ninh Binh. It is bringing a gold opportunity for children with moving disabilities from poor families in mountainous or coastal areas to receive medical care, treatment and corrective surgery.
According to Nguyen Ngoc Sung, the centre’s director during 2008-2009, 110 children already benefited from SAP-VN programmes./.
