US peace activists visit Vietnam

President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Vu Xuan Hong on January 24 received a US delegation of peace activists paying a working visit to Vietnam.

The 16 member delegation is here to attend activities marking the 40 th anniversary of the signing of Paris Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam .

Many of them were active in the anti-war movement in the US as well as in charity campaigns to help hospitals in North Vietnam during the war.

Addressing the reception, President Hong appreciated the great support of the peace activists for Vietnam . He stressed that the Paris Agreement was also a success of the solidarity of the international community including US peace lovers.

For their part, the US delegates expressed their pleasure to visit Vietnam , saying that they want to understand more about Vietnam , and Vietnam-US relations at present as well as learn about need of coordination in peace activities between the two sides in the time being.

The delegation’s visit will last until February 4.-VNA
