US President Barack Obama on Feb. 12 extended his warmest wishes to American people of Asian origin as well as all people who are celebrating the Lunar New Year in the world.
The US President expressed his belief that the Asian Americans would go on keeping their rich traditions and wished all people who are celebrating the Lunar New Year a year of peace, prosperity and good health.
On the occasion, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also sent her wishes to all of the people.
The Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston ( Texas ) on Feb. 10 held a ceremony to welcome the Lunar New Year with the participation of about 150 Vietnamese expatriates, businessmen and the city officials.
Addressing the ceremony, Consul General Le Dung extended his wishes to all Vietnamese expatriates in the US a year of successes. He also wished Vietnamese students and pupils in Texas a year of achievements and hoped they would continue grasping valuable knowledge from the US to help build up their homeland.
On behalf of the Vietnamese expatriates attending the ceremony, Vu Van Le, a successful entrepreneur in Texas , spoke highly of the opening of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston and said the Consulate General had become a bridge linking businesses in Vietnam and in Texas./.
