The US based Datalogic Scanning, the world leader in fixed position retail scanning, opened its first factory in the Asia-Pacific region at the Sai Gon Hi-tech Park on July 10.

The facility, capitalised at 46.6 million USD, is producing the Magellan bi-optic scanner.

It has recruited more than 60 employees, including managers, engineers, and technicians, from technical colleges and universities around Vietnam .

When fully operational in 2014, it will employ 400 workers to turn out 1 million units and achieve an annual export of 200 million USD.

“The company has chosen Vietnam for its largest investment outside the US because this reliable country offers a concrete, win-win scenario for investors like Datalogic,” said Brad West, Datalogic Scanning deputy president of operations.

Further to this new investment in Vietnam , Datalogic Scanning plans to develop its business worldwide by offering tailored solutions to its customers for each regional market’s unique needs.
