The US Senate has adopted a resolution, urging concerned parties to seek a peaceful and multilateral solution to disputes on the East Sea.
In the June 27 resolution, US Senators reaffirmed support for solving disputes over territorial waters on the East Sea in a peaceful manner.
They urged all concerned parties to refrain from threatening force or using force to assert territorial claims.
Democratic Senator Jim Webb, who leads a bipartisan group introducing the resolution, said the US has a strategic interest in facilitating multilateral negotiations to settle the disputes.
Webb is now the Chairman of the East Asia and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee under the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations./.
