US – stable market for Vietnam’s tra fish

stable export market for Vietnam ’s “tra” fish, in both volume and
value, according to the Vietnamese Association of Seafood Exporters and
Producers (VASEP).

In November, the country imported almost 5,000 tonnes of the fish, worth over 15 million USD, a 2.5 fold increase over the same period last year and accounting for 10 percent of Vietnam ’s total “tra” fish exports in the time reviewed.
The Hung Vuong Joint Stock Company (HVG) plans to work with distributors in the US to export “tra” fish during 2009-2013. HVG is also investing in building production lines for animal feed, aquaculture, processing as well as cold storage facilities to ensure quality and control production costs.
The Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company is one of the country’s leading exporters of “tra” and “basa” fish with over one third of the company’s exports sent to the US ./.
