Meeting with the Vietnamesebusiness community as part of his visit to Vietnam from December14-17, Kerry praised the positive development of the Vietnam-USrelations, noting that bilateral trade has grown steadily from 55,000USD in 1995 to 25 billion USD currently.

He also said thedynamic operation of the two countries’ chambers of commerce andindustry has contributed to boosting bilateral trade links.

The two sides are on the right track to bring trade links to a higher level, he said.

The US has initially provided 4.2 million USD for its relevantagencies to work out programmes on building a strategic partnershipbetween the two sides.

The US official said Vietnam isseeing a sustainable and promising growth to catch up with the world’scommon development.

He affirmed the US commits to supportVietnam in higher education programme aiming to train high-qualityhuman resources.

During his stay in Ho Chi Minh City , Kerrymet with staff and lecturers from the Fulbright Economics TeachingProgramme.

He witnessed General Electrics (GE) Group and CongLy Company signing the second phase of equipment package provision worthmore than 92 million USD for a wind power plant in Bac Lieu.

Earlier, the US diplomat visited the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Basilica in the city.-VNA

First “green lane” durian shipment exported to China

​Under the “green lane” process, quality control begins at the cultivation stage, including soil sampling and monitoring, and continues through harvesting and processing, with traceability labels attached to trees and applied to fruit at the time of picking. It also allows plant quarantine procedures and the issuance of certificates of origin (C/O) directly in the localities where the orchards are located.
