USAID helps construction sector save energy

A project improving energy efficiency in the construction sector, as part of a clean energy programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), was unveiled in Hanoi on May 6.
A project improving energyefficiency in the construction sector, as part of a clean energyprogramme funded by the United States Agency for InternationalDevelopment (USAID), was unveiled in Hanoi on May 6.

Under thefour-year project, worth nearly 3.35 million USD, USAID will workclosely with the Ministry of Construction and its departments to put inplace the Vietnam Building Energy Efficiency and Conservation standards,as well as promoting an environmentally-friendly new building.

They will also make fact-finding trips to well-urbanised cities andprovinces of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa andNghe An, exploring how they have addressed greenhouse gas emissions.

The project is expected to fully realise the low gas emissiondevelopment strategy, known as the Vietnam National Green GrowthStrategy which was adopted by the National Assembly in 2010. It willalso help the ministry draft its own action plan on green growth.

Speaking at the Hanoi event, Acting USAID Deputy Director GeneralJason Foley hailed Vietnam for being among the trailblazers in launchingthis strategy.-VNA

Vietnam positioned to harness AI wave, World Bank report says

The WB report identifies Vietnam as one of the few economies outside the European Union (EU) to have adopted a comprehensive AI regulatory framework as early as 2025. Vietnam applies a risk-tiered approach similar to that of the EU AI Act, imposing different obligations depending on whether an AI system poses “unacceptable,” “high,” “low” or “minimal” risks. The approach is viewed as a strategic step towards ensuring safe and transparent AI governance.
