Development (USAID), was unveiled in Hanoi on May 6.
Under the four-year project, worth nearly 3.35 million USD, USAID will work closely with the Ministry of Construction and its departments to put in place the Vietnam Building Energy Efficiency and Conservation standards, as well as promoting an environmentally-friendly new building.
They will also make fact-finding trips to well-urbanised cities and provinces of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, exploring how they have addressed greenhouse gas emissions.
The project is expected to fully realise the low gas emission development strategy, known as the Vietnam National Green Growth Strategy which was adopted by the National Assembly in 2010. It will also help the ministry draft its own action plan on green growth.
Speaking at the Hanoi event, Acting USAID Deputy Director General Jason Foley hailed Vietnam for being among the trailblazers in launching this strategy.-VNA
