Hanoi (VNA) - Secretary of Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev emphasised the need to recover the atmosphere of trust between the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at their second summit in Hanoi, Vietnam on February 27-28.

In an interview with the the Argumenty I Fakti (Arguments and Facts) weekly newspaper of Russia on February 26, Patrushev  that the most important result of the summit would be the US side’s decision to follow the path of ensuring security and easing economic pressure on the DPRK in exchange for the Northeast Asian nation’s renunciation of nuclear weapons.

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un in Hanoi is aimed at removing those issues, which were not resolved reached at the first summit in Singapore in June 2018, he said.

The recovery of the atmosphere of mutual trust between the DPRK and the US is the key for achieving peace in the Korean Peninsula, he said.
