US’s aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson to visit Da Nang: Spokesperson
The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain and the destroyer USS USS Wayne E.Meyer of the US Navy will make a goodwill visit to Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang from March 5-9.

McCain docked at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang for a friendship visit in 2016 (Photo: VNA)Hanoi (VNA) – The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain and the destroyer USS USS Wayne E.Meyer of the US Navy will make a goodwill visit to Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang from March 5-9, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.
At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on March 1, Hang said the visit is made at the permission of the Vietnamese Government.
A number of activities were scheduled for the visit, including a welcome ceremony, a press conference, courtesy visits, technical exchanges, sports matches, and other community activities.
The visit realizes the agreement reached by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders in the joint statement issued by Vietnam and the US during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam in November 2017. It looks to continue promoting the two countries’ ties to match their comprehensive partnership, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, security, cooperation, and development in the region, the spokesperson noted.-VNA
