The government of the Republic of Vanuatu attaches importance to developing diplomatic ties with Vietnam, a Vanuatuan senior official has said.
President Iolu Johnson Abbil stated this at a ceremony in Port Vila capital on Sept. 11, which Vietnamese Ambassador Hoang Vinh Thanh presented his credentials.
The president affirmed his country will make every effort to step up cooperation with Vietnam on the basis of mutual benefit.
He also underlined important contributions made by the Vietnamese community in Vanuatu to the development of the country.
Ambassador Thanh expressed the hope that the Vietnam-Vanuatu friendship and cooperation will be further developed and promoted in the future.
He also called on the Vanuatuan Government to support Vietnam to host the 15 th Summit of the Francophonie in 2014.-VNA
