A ten strong musical ensemble from Venezuela will perform in Hanoi and Hai Phong City as part of “Venezuelan Cultural Week in Vietnam ” from April 11-16.

The concerts have been jointly organised by the Department for International Cooperation and the Venezuelan Embassy in Vietnam .

The musicians, who are members of the band “Tambores de San Millán” (Drummers of San Millán region), will give performances at the Cong Nhan (Workers) Theatre in Hanoi on April 13 and at the Opera House in Hai Phong on April 14.

First established in 1976, Tambores de San Millán has been dedicated to preserving the traditional folk music of the San Millán region, which has lost its popularity in recent years.

Though performances in and outside its country, the band has helped keep their region’s traditional culture alive and promoted community activities among young people as a way to stay away from the use of drugs and discrimination.

It has received many prestigious prizes in the past and has toured many major cities around the world.
Audiences in Hanoi and Hai Phong will have the chance to access free tickets for their concerts.-VNA
