Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Central Committee has called for all organisations, agencies and community join hands in supporting people suffering from recent floods in northern and central localities.

On October 16, the VFF received 502 million VND (22,098 USD) from the Voice of Vietnam and 300 million VND (13,206 USD) from the Ministries of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The campaign has also been responded by many other central agencies, including the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Economic Commission, Commission for Internal Affairs, and Commission for Information and Education.

Statistics show that 102 people were killed and reported missing by heavy rains and floods in northern mountainous and central localities. The disaster destroyed 198 houses, submerged over 30,000 other houses and affected a large area of crop.-VNA
