Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Le Ba Trinh received the ethnic minority Sisters of the Miraculous Medal group from the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on April 8 in Hanoi.

The Sisters were visiting Hanoi on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Southern liberation.

During the reception, the VFF Vice President expressed his appreciation of the Sisters’ charitable works benefitting local people and disadvantaged children.

He hoped that the Miraculous Medal nuns would get more involved in activities that promote national solidarity and continue to raise underprivileged children to become responsible members of society.

The Miraculous Medal Church was founded in 1947. Since then, Sisters of the church have worked hard to support local communities.

The church has established six orphanages to date, home to around 800 orphans, underprivileged children and children with disabilities under 18 years old.

The groups has not only opened free music and tailoring classes for children and medical clinics for the impoverished, but also takes care of live-in patients at leper centres.-VNA
