President Truong Tan Sang has urged the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to further its involvement in Party-building work.

The VFF at all levels should encourage the people to detect and expose cadres and Party members who are involved in corruption and deviate in political thought, ethics and lifestyle, President Sang said at the fourth meeting of the 7th VFF Central Committee in Ho Chi Minh City on Jan. 11.

The Front should supervise and urge the strict punishment of all violations in accordance with the Party’s discipline and State laws, and propose the Party and State honour those who contribute to Party-building work and protect those who fight corruption and social evils, he added.

The President hailed efforts by the VFF at all levels over the past year, with various activities to promote the strength of the national unity bloc, encouraging people to take part in campaigns and patriotic movements, contributing to the country’s achievements.

In 2012, President Sang asked the VFF to continue increasing and improving the quality of activities to disseminate Party guidelines and State laws and policies to people from all walks of life.

The VFF needs to attract more people to participate in patriotic movements and other efforts to successfully implement socio-economic tasks and ensure the country’s defence and security, he said.

The VFF also needs to be active in contributing to the Party’s external relations and State diplomacy, building and strengthening an environment of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, raising the country’s position and contributing to the common fight of the world’s people for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress, he added.

This year, the VFF Central Committee will continue to implement its five action programmes for the 2009-2014 term, including joining hands with the Government and authorities at all levels to carry out solutions for the 2012 targets of inflation control, macro-economic stability, 6 percent economic growth, the building of the revised VFF law, as well as expanding and improving the quality of people-to-people diplomatic activities by VFF and its member organisations at all levels./.
