Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan hosted a reception for Anissa Barrak, the Asia-Pacific Regional Director of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), on November 20, expressing her delight at the growing ties between Vietnam and the French-speaking community.

She informed her guest that she is leading a Vietnamese delegation to the 15th OIF Summit in Senegal later this month, saying that Vietnam is extremely interested in this event’s topics on women, youth and the framework of future cooperation.

The Vice President thanked the OIF Asia-Pacific Office for choosing the University of Trade as an important partner for the implementation of activities to promote the French language.

Barrak spoke highly of Vietnam’s leading role in expanding OIF operations in Asia-Pacific, as well as the country’s contributions to building the development strategy for the French-speaking community.

She said she thought Vietnam, as an active member of the OIF, could bridge Africa and Asia and strengthen the links within the French-speaking community.

Barrak also affirmed the organisation’s solidarity with Vietnam and the shared value of peace.-VNA
