Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on December 9 presented gifts to stormvictims in the central province of Quang Tri to help them soon stabilisetheir lives.

The gifts, which each include two million VND(94 USD) in cash and some commodities, were given to local people inVinh Nam commune in Vinh Linh district, and Gio My commune in Gio Linhdistrict, who were hard hit by the recent natural disasters.

She also handed over five million VND to Vinh Nam nursery school tohelp it overcome flood consequences and buy new teaching and learningequipment.

Vice President Doan used the occasion to praisethe great efforts made by authorities and people in the two communes inthe post-flood response, requiring local authorities to ensure hygienefor people.

They were requested to pay special attention toeducation and training, healthcare and social allowances towardsfamilies that have contributed to the revolution.

October’sWutip and Nari, the tenth and eleventh tropical storms to hit Vietnamthis year, ripped roofs off 385 houses, blew down 40,000 industrialplants and injured five people in Gio My commune.

At thesame time, they also tore roofs from 387 houses, destroyed 90 percent ofrubber acreage, left one dead and another injured in Vinh Nam commune.-VNA

Deputy PM asks for highest education quality, safety for students

Regarding the construction of inter-level boarding schools in border communes, all 108 schools under Phase 1 opened for the 2026-2027 academic year, with 40 having completed all construction items. Sea turtle nests on Lam Dong's Hon Cau island for sixth time this year

Since the beginning of 2026, sea turtles have nested six times at three beaches on Hon Cau island, namely Nhat, Mui Tau and Ba Hon. Three nests were left undisturbed at safe locations, while another three were relocated to the incubation area for protection, involving a total of 246 eggs.
