During her working visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK), Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on September 19 met with the Vietnamese community in the country.

At the meeting, Vice President Doan briefed the expats on the socio-economic situation in Vietnam over recent time and success of the recent Asian businesswomen conference she just attended as Vietnam’s head delegate.

The Communist Party of Vietnam and State always pay due attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, considering it an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation, the Vice President told the overseas Vietnamese.

She said she was happy at the contributions that overseas Vietnamese, including those in the RoK, had made to the construction and development of Vietnam.

She noted that the Vietnamese community in the RoK numbers more than 90,000 people and their annual remittance to Vietnam reaches 500 million USD in recent years.

Representatives of the community told the Vice President about a number of difficulties they are facing, including the integration of Vietnamese brides into the RoK society.

Vice President Doan said the Vietnamese state, through diplomatic means, will further coordinate with the RoK authorities in order to help all overseas Vietnamese to integrate into the RoK society./.
