Hanoi (VNA) - The World EXPO 2020, which is taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has become one of the world’s highlights. In this first attendance, the Vietnam pavilion has had a jubilant month of activities and left good impressions.

Imprints of quintessence

During the 7th World EXPO, the Vietnam pavilion, operated by the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has organised a wide range of activities, attracting thousands of visitors every day and being considered one of the ‘bright stars’.

Themed ‘Distilling the Past, Shaping the Future’, the pavilion is located in the ‘Opportunity’ themed area with a total area of 850sq.m spread over three floors, two of which are for exhibition activities. The third floor is being used as a VIP and office area.

The first floor of the pavilion includes a 10-screen area with an introduction revealing 10 things visitors should know about Vietnam; a cultural-traditional area with ancient bronze drums, a dragon head of the Ly Dynasty, a statue of Quan Am Buddha, water puppetry, traditional musical instruments, national costumes, a panorama screen showing stories about history and famous landmarks, a science and technology area displaying ‘Make-in-Vietnam’ products, and a tourist discovery area with touch screens and 3D displays.

The second floor focuses on introducing Vietnamese quintessential products, national brands, agricultural exports, Vietnamese coffee culture, a circular economy model in coffee production, and Vietnamese marine farming technology.

The pavilion has received many very important persons (VIPs) such as Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Crown Prince of Ajmal (UAE) Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Bin Rashid, UAE Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Secretary General of Organisation internationale de la Francophonie Louise Mushikiwabo.

“The Vietnamese house has left a great impression on me. All of your staff do their best with a smile on their face, making us feel satisfied from the moment we walk in, and especially your art programme is extremely attractive. I will definitely come back here many more times,” said visitor Khaid Bin Amer from India.

The Vietnamese cultural quintessence introduced at the event has received a warm welcome. Besides traditional music and water puppet shows every day, on October 12, monochord artist Le Giang collaborated with traditional Middle Eastern band and male singer Aseel Abu Baker at Jalsat Music Night. It was one of the top art shows of EXPO 2020, and drew a lot of attention from the international media and audience.

Vietnam’s presence attracts international media

Vietnam's presence at EXPO 2020 Dubai has been drawing a lot of attention from the world’s media. According to statistics from the Department of International Cooperation, more than 100 international news sites have published news and photos about the opening ceremony of the Vietnam pavilion.

Kuwait News Agency had an exclusive interview with Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Sky News Arabia invited Tran Nhat Hoang, Deputy Representative of Vietnam, to a morning news programme that was broadcast live to more than 50 million households in the Middle East and North Africa regions.

Over the next five months, the Vietnam pavilion will continue promoting the culture, images and brands of Vietnam to millions of visitors. It will actively participate in joint activities at the expo.

Vietnam Day (December 30, 2021) is considered the most important event for Vietnam at Expo 2020 Dubai. It will include the participation of high-ranking leaders from the country. A painting exhibition, a Vietnamese film week, a large-scale fashion and artistic show, and an investment promotion conference are scheduled to be held within the framework of the event.

With a history going back 170 years, the World Expo is among the world’s oldest and largest events, only after the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup. It has provided a platform to showcase the greatest innovations that have shaped the world today. Expo 2020 will continue that tradition with the latest technology from around the globe.

Expo 2020 Dubai will last from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, attracting more than 190 countries and international organisations. It is expected to welcome 25 million visitors.

According to the organisers, EXPO 2020 Dubai welcomed more than 2.35 million visitors in the first month, 17 percent of these were international visitors from 185 different nations. For the first time in history, all the 192 participating countries have their own pavilions./.
