Vietnam Air Petrol Co., Ltd (Vinapo), a member of Vietnam Airlines has placed a 5,000-tonne per month order of jet fuel till the end of 2011 to the Dung Quat refinery.
The company received the first batch of the petrol on Oct. 12 to supply to airports in the central region.
The owner of Dung Quat refinery, the National Oil and Gas Group said it will conduct negotiations with Vietnam Airlines on more purchase of jet fuel for use in airports in the northern region. Using domestically-produced air petrol will help the national flag carrier save not only foreign currency but also time and costs for transportation and storage.
With a capacity of 4,000c.m of air petrol in 2011, Dung Quat, the country’s first refinery, can meet 50 percent of the total domestic demands.
Its air petrol has also been purchased by BP Singapore to be used in international flights since late 2010./ .
