The 10th session of the Vietnam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee wrapped up in Hanoi on January 10 after three days, during which the two sides agreed to cooperate in a broad range of areas.
They include trade and investment, employment and vocational training, agriculture, fishery, information and communications, housing and urban development, transport and judicial sector.
Both parties demonstrated their determination to facilitate the effective operation of businesses, especially the Vietnam-Algeria oil and gas joint venture. They also consented to continuing their partnerships in the realms of healthcare, education, culture, tourism and sports.
The session took place under the chair of Construction Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and Algerian Minister of Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Amara Benyounes, who are co-chairmen of the Vietnam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee.
On the occasion, Minister Dung acknowledged the agreement reached by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Algeria Press Service (APS) in December 2013.
He said the agreement has opened up an official information channel to spread the word about each country’s socio-economic development and work together, bringing both people closer together than ever before.
At the end of the session, a specific deal was reached by the two countries’ trade promotion agencies. The Vietnam Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs also agreed a vocational training programme with the Algerian Ministry of Vocational Education and Training.
Expressing his pleasure at the session’s outcomes, Minister Amara Benyounes described the event as a stepping stone allowing the two countries to foster their relationship and meet the aspirations of their people.
The 11th session of the Vietnam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee is scheduled to be held in the Algerian capital city of Algiers in 2015.-VNA
