Vietnam was among top 10 most popular destinations for Australian travelers in July, with more than 18,500 Australians visiting the Southeast Asian country in the month, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

Sydney (VNA) – Vietnam was among top 10 mostpopular destinations for Australian travelers in July, with more than 18,500Australians visiting the Southeast Asian country in the month, according toAustralian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

In July, there were 968,490 international departures fromAustralia, a monthly increase of 87,630 from June. However, the figurerepresented a fall of 58.8% from that in July 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, thebureau reported.

New Zealand ranked first in the top 10 destinations for Australian tourists,with 96,180 arrivals, which was followed by Indonesia, the UK, the US, Fiji,India, Singapore, Thailand and Italy.

After both Australia and Vietnam reopened their borders, thenumber of Australians travelling Vietnam has risen considerably. Compared toJune, the number of Australian arrivals in Vietnam in July rose by about 8,200,but fell by nearly 10,000 from the same month in 2019.

ABS statistics showed that on the average, Australians spend19 days for each trip abroad./.

From 2023 to 2024, there was a 35% increase in Australian travelers heading to Vietnam. The nation was the ninth most popular destination of Australian travelers last year, when almost 450,000 Australians visited. That was an increase of almost 80% on the figures from a decade ago

Search volume for Vietnam’s tourism ranks 7th globally

The top 10 most searched Vietnamese destinations were Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Vung Tau, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, and Hue. Notably, Vung Tau and Ninh Binh recorded the highest growth in search volume with over 75%.

Vietnam, Italy promote tourism cooperation

VNAT Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said that Vietnam identifies Italy as one of the key markets in Europe. Italian tourists are famous for their refined aesthetic taste, deep understanding of culture, art and history and for their passion for discovering original values and sophistication in experiences.
