Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien attended the Global Health Conference from January 26-27 in Beijing to discuss the next 100 years of the health sector.

The event was jointly held by the Chinese Ministry of Health and the Rockerfeller Foundation of the US on the occasion of the foundation’s 100 th founding anniversary.

Around 150 delegates discussed health and sustainable development, society’s contributions to people’s health, changing epidemiology and demography, health outside the scope of the health system and global healthcare.

They also discussed global health innovation and the role of leaders in the sector’s future.

At a plenary session on January 27 chaired by Minister Tien with the Lao Minister of Health and the Thai Minister of Public Health, delegates discussed the macro development trends in the health sector in the course of establishing national health development plans.

Global health leaders also discussed ways to enhance the Vietnamese health sector’s ties with the international community and accelerate the sector’s integration to improve healthcare work and protect Vietnamese people’s health.-VNA
