Kathmandu (VNA) – The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) hosted an international seminar themed “Karl Marx and today socialism” in the capital city of Kathmandu on May 30 and 31 on the occasion of the great philosopher’s 200th birth anniversary.

A Vietnamese delegation led by Permanent Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Tran Dac Loi attended the event.

Also present at the event were NCP Chairman and Nepalese Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, Nepalese ministers and parliamentarians, 300 domestic politicians, researchers and scientists, over 40 foreign delegates from 22 communist and workers’ parties worldwide.

Participants hailed Marx as a great thinker and philosopher who made significant contributions to society, towards building a better life for human kinds.

Marx’s thoughts currently remain a lodestar for communist, workers’ and left-wing parties and labourers in many countries in the struggle for freedom, fairness, equality, peace and prosperity.

Almost opinions shared the view that communist and workers’ parties need to fully grasp and creatively apply basic principles of Marxism to build a path toward socialism that suits each country’s conditions.

Sharing experience in building socialism in Nepal, China, Vietnam and Cuba, delegates affirmed that socialism is the most effective and scientific solution for human kinds to overcome the crisis of capitalism.

They underscored the importance of strengthening international solidarity among communist and workers’ parties at present as appealed by eminent thinker Karl Marx.-VNA
